A pre-authorization is taken from the hirer\'s credit card at the time of car rental delivery. Pre-authorization amount is between AED 1500 to AED 3000 depending on the vehicle type. Rental agency will keep pre-authorization amount up to 15 days until they receive late traffic fines and salik updates from the Road and Transport Authorities (RTA) of Dubai.

Vehicles are covered by full comprehensive insurance as per the UAE laws. However, a police report must be obtained at the time of an accident or in case of damage. If the renter failed to produce a valid police report to Car Provider, all charges incurred will be the responsibility of the client, even if CDW has been taken. No replacement vehicle will be supplied and rental charges will continue until a police report is received along with any other relevant documents. In case of an accident and/or damage, the client is required to pay excess liability if CDW is not taken. A valid Police report is also required. In the event of theft of a rented vehicle, the police must be notified immediately; otherwise cover would be rendered void.    Insurance covers use of the vehicle in U.A.E. only, unless prior agreement is given by Car Provider.

You will be charged AED 5 on every salik gate crossing and will be billed at the end of your rental duration.

If you are living in the UAE on a Residential Visa / Work Permit, you require a legitimate UAE Driving License.

If you are visiting the UAE as a tourist and want a rental car to get around, you need to have a valid International Driving Permit (IDP) a.k.a. International Driving License and your original Driving License, both from your home country.

For all the other countries, an International Driving Permit is necessary from the driving license holder’s home country.

There are no additional costs unless any specified by the car rental company. You only need to pay the full rental amount for the duration you need the car as a daily / weekly / monthly deal.

Dubai\'s electronic toll collection system is known as Salik. When you cross a Salik, charges are also recorded by the rental company through the RTA Salik system. You, the car renter / driver, pays the Salik charges. There are no toll booths in Dubai providing you a continuous drive across the UAE without any interruptions.

In the UAE, all rental cars come with an air-conditioner (AC) and FM radio. Newer models of rental cars come with a USB music player / mobile charging port also. Chargeable extras such as GPS, baby or child Seats, WiFi may also available on request from the car rent shops.

Most car rental companies in Dubai offer standard insurance inclusive of the car rental price. However, it should always be confirmed before renting the car because if you\'re getting a car well below the market rate, there might not be any insurance included.

Very few international car hire companies offer full-coverage car insurance in Dubai, UAE for an additional charge or free of cost.

CDW insurance is the short form of Collision Damage Waiver which means that you are covered if there are any accidental damages to the car in a collision, no matter who is at fault. It is important to consider getting CDW insurance if your rental car comes with a standard insurance package. However, to claim this it is necessary to get a Police Report (whichever emirate you are in).

Comprehensive insurance covers you in case of any accidental damage to the vehicle, provided it isn’t your fault. A police report proving the same with a green or white slip must be produced for the same. This kind of insurance is included within the rental price as per RTA regulations in the UAE.

Mileage limitation is the number of kilometres you can drive your rental car free of cost. The mileage limitation (200 km, 300 km or so) is provided as part of the rental price. Some car rental companies offer unlimited mileage with which you can drive the rental car for any amount of distance / kilometres free of cost.

Some car rental companies are known to charge extremely high charges including repair costs + days the car is kept in the garage for repairs + admin fees (up to AED 1000) even for minor dents. Be sure to understand the terms if you\'re planning for a long-term lease from the car lease company staff.

Always keep your eyes open and note the existing dents, scratches and so on when the car rental staff checks the car before handing you the keys. Take pictures on your smart phone if necessary.

Always remember to pay for parking in public and private paid-parking spaces. Don’t cross the speed limit especially if you are driving a leased car. You might even incur additional charges over the AED 600 speeding fine.
