We've all seen the traditional cops cars as usual - might I say boring as well - sedan, be it a Toyota Corolla or a Nissan Sunny. But have you heard of a cop car that's a supercar as well? Major flex am I right! You'll be surprised that their fleet ranges from a Bugatti Veyron to a Ferrari FF to even a Lamborghini Aventador. Believe me, to say that the Police Department drives around in a beast would be an understatement.
Dubai Police Department's fleet of supercars has raised its overall profile among the elite law defenders across the globe. It has been in the headlines multiple times for its wide range of expensive and hardcore vehicles. There is a downside to it when we tell you that these cars are mostly used to show or patrol a wealthier side of Dubai. They certainly do not believe in sleeper cars because they practically have every single supercar existing on the planet. We seriously doubt if any criminal can outrun them now!
An interesting fact, according to CNN, the Guinness Book of World Records has officially certified that the Dubai Police proudly owns the fastest car in the WORLD - a 254 mph Bugatti Veyron. "We're not looking to just show off with the car; we're looking to show tourists how friendly the police is here in Dubai," Major Sultan Al Marri of Dubai police's General Department of Transport & Rescue told CNN. Not to mention the fact that they beat the US by breaking their record-holding the fastest car, which is a Lamborghini with a top speed of 233 mph. As luxury excessive it may sound, we cannot forget that we are talking about Dubai here.
Now let's talk about the Tesla Cybertruck. The Dubai police have embraced every bit of that - truck? car?suv? I really don't know - but it has proudly embraced it, even all of its ugliness, and included it into their prized collection in 2020. When there comes to an environmental point of view, Dubai manages it with a super adorable one-seater car that's eco-friendly and will help them in surveilling the narrow streets of Deira and Naif.
They are also a proud owner of an Aston Martin one-77 edition, a rare breed since they've released only 77 of them into the world. Moreover, just after the first few weeks of welcoming a Lamborghini Aventador into the family, they welcomed a Ferrari DD in no time, I mean the audacity! We're guessing money does grow on trees here in Dubai.
On another note, have you noticed their color combo? They have totally ditched the traditional blue with a dark green and white with blue emergency lights. Each of these vehicles also holds the website address and email address printed on it. They are also known to be the first task force to start using GPS systems to track down stolen vehicles. How cool is that!
Other supercars such as Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, Nissan GT-R, Porsche Panamera S E-Hybrid, Lexus RC F, Chevrolet Camaro, Ford Mustang customized by Roush Performance, BMW M6, Brabus Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG, and Bentley Continental GT are just a few from their massive collection.
I hope you could catch your breath after reading the list and doing the mental calculation of the estimated costs of it all!
Something to laugh about is that there have been numerous instances where many people, especially tourists, call on Dubai Police emergency number 999 to inquire about these cars, specifically to know their location so that they can find them and take pictures with them. I mean, if we only had that information, wouldn't we all be going Gaga just car hunting these supercars for the gram!
