As usual, we’ve all seen the traditional cop cars - might I say boring as well - sedan, be it a Toyota Corolla or a Nissan Sunny. But, have you heard about cops driving in supercars? Well, that is the Dubai police for you.
You'll be surprised to know that they own almost every luxury car from a Bugatti Veyron to a Ferrari FF to even a Lamborghini Aventador!
Dubai Police Department's fleet of supercars has raised its overall profile among the elite law defenders across the globe. It has been in the headlines multiple times for its wide range of expensive and hardcore vehicles.
There is a downside to it when we tell you that these cars are mostly used to show or patrol a wealthier side of Dubai. They certainly do not believe in sleeper cars because they practically have every single supercar existing on the planet. We seriously doubt if any criminal can outrun them now.
There are many more exciting things to know about Dubai police cars. Let’s check them out!
According to CNN, the Guinness Book of World Records has officially certified that the Dubai Police proudly owns the fastest car in the WORLD - a 254 mph Bugatti Veyron.
"We're not looking to just show off with the car; we're looking to show tourists how friendly the police are here in Dubai," Major Sultan Al Marri of Dubai police's General Department of Transport & Rescue told CNN.
Moreover, did you know that they beat the US by breaking their record-holding the fastest car, which is a Lamborghini with a top speed of 233 mph?
Even if it sounds beyond excessive, we cannot forget that Dubai is a land of luxury and riches.
A Tesla Cybertruck is all the rage in the automobile world right now. This truck is entirely electronic and battery-powered. And well, it looks like the Dubai police are willing to have one too! After all, they mentioned the desire to have one on their official Twitter account.
Moreover, the Dubai police are eagerly looking forward to adding the Cybertruck to their prized collection of supercars.
If you feel that Dubai police only have flashy and luxurious cars, you may have been wrong about that. They do care about the environmental factors too. Here’s why:
The Dubai police have a set of eco-friendly mini cars. They specifically own this mini and eco-friendly car to look out for any crimes in any narrow streets, like that of Deira or Naif. Thus, helping in keeping the public and tourists safe.
Additionally, this eco-friendly mini car is quite popular and also acts as a tourist attraction.
Apart from these, the government is investing in electric cars, like Tesla-based cars. They have also added 13 Renault Zoe electric cars to their collection for reducing the carbon footprint.
Dubai police cars are certainly not like your traditional ones. No, it isn’t just about the model of cars they use but also the other little things.
For instance, have you ever noticed the color combination of the Dubai police cars? They have totally ditched the traditional blue color with a dark green and white with blue emergency lights. Each of these vehicles also holds the website address and email address printed on it.
They have also made their vehicles more technologically equipped by using GPS systems to track down stolen vehicles. In fact, they are the first task force to do so. It does sound really cool, right?
As mentioned earlier, the Dubai police department doesn’t shy away from using the best and the most luxurious cars. They have a fleet of 14 supercars and the way we see it, the number will keep on increasing for sure!
Let’s take a look at some of these 14 supercars:
The Dubai police are a proud owner of an Aston Martin one-77 edition. It is an exclusive car since they've released only 77 of them into the world.
With a price range of around $5 million, it's one great beast on the road. It also has a blinding speed of 220 miles per hour and a carbon-fiber body fitting that is an ultimate limited edition of only 77 cars built for the entire range.
The V8-powered Audi R8 has bagged the hearts of the Dubai Police that they bought two of them!
With a mindblowing engine horsepower of 525 borrowed from the Lamborghini Gallardo, the beast can soar from zero to 60 in under just four seconds.
It is a mid-mounted three-cylinder engine generating a horsepower of 357, with an impeccable acceleration from zero to 60 in 4.2 seconds. It has a speed of up to 155 miles per hour. It also saves a lot on fuel costs because it goes 76 miles per gallon!
The Dubai police pride itself on having the fastest police car in the world today - The Bugatti Veyron.
This supercar costs a good $1.6 million. As it is the fastest, it has a speed of 247 miles per hour! It's the most recognizable car in the world, and we honestly doubt if anything in the world can outrun it.
Just after the first few weeks of welcoming a Lamborghini Aventador into the family, the Dubai police welcomed a Ferrari DD in no time.
Unlike most supercars, including other Ferraris, the Ferrari FF is a four-seater with a V12 powered engine that can go from zero to 60 in a matter of 3.7 seconds. Also, it can cover up to 208 miles per hour!
A mid-mounted V12 engine generates a massive 691 horsepower, the Aventador can go from zero to 60 in just a few seconds. With a top speed of 217 miles per hour, this is one of the most insane cars ever to serve the Dubai Police Department.
This mean machine was the company's first road car after the infamous 1992-1998 F1. Its V8 engines soar the road with a speed of 200 miles per hour, marking it as one of the finest British supercars in the collection.
Other supercars serving the Dubai police department include:
These supercars are just a few from their massive collection!
I hope you could catch your breath after reading the list and doing the mental calculation of the estimated costs of it all.
Forget about emergencies, tourists are absolutely in love with the luxury Dubai police cars!
In fact, there have been numerous instances where many people, especially tourists, call on Dubai Police emergency number 999 to inquire about these cars.
They specifically want to know their location so that they can find them and take pictures with them.
I mean, if only we had that information, wouldn't we all be hunting for these magnificent cars too!
It is simply impossible to not talk about motorcycles while talking about the car collection of Dubai police. After all, they are simply terrific!
A special motorcycle unit was formed by Major General Abdullah Khalifa Al-Marri of Dubai in 2008. This unit specifically protects VIPs on the busy roads of Dubai.
Today, they have 10 special BMW Motorrad R1250RT-P motorcycles in their collection. Along with these, they have even added Can-Am Spyder superbikes for patrolling the tourist sites across Dubai.
When we say Dubai is a futuristic city, we aren’t just talking about the architecture but also about the flying motorcycles. Yes, the Dubai police also have flying motorcycles aka HoverSurfs.
Fast and advanced aren’t always the same. So, even though the Dubai police have the fastest police car, they also have the most advanced one - W Motors Ghiath.
The W Motors Ghiath is a Chevrolet-Tahoe-based advanced patrol vehicle. It features some excellent developments such as:
This car is a bit on the slower side compared to the other supercars. But, with its amazing AI-Based technology, it is a car worth mentioning!
The police cars in Dubai are much more than the traditional ones. They come equipped with fast engines, smart technology, and sleek designs.
They have become so popular that they are a sight of attraction for tourists in Dubai too!
In the end, Dubai is a land of grandeur and the Dubai police force only needs the best of the cars to protect it.
